I complain about the temperature in the office

I recently made a complaint about our office being way too hot. My boss, being on the other side of the building and connected to a different system, was unaware of the heating issue. So, he gave me a thermometer and had me check the temperature.

79.5 degrees (F)

My boss was surprised as to how hot it is in here. He has dropped the thermostat. Now, the geologist next to me is whining like a baby. "Now I'm going to have to freeze."

When I walk in the room, it's like running into a wall of thick, humid heat. Am I wrong for thinking it's rather hot in this office? I'm not asking for an Arctic blast. A temperature in the lower 70's seems appropriate...

That's the trouble with office buildings. Tenants changing and remodeling going on and that messes with the original design. IMO, office buildings should have several zones (at least two to cover east/west - to account for changes in the temp due to the sun rising and setting)

70°F to 74°F is appropriate in my opinion. Many places have a strict policy of using 72°F only. 79.5°F is too high to be comfortable. The geologist can wear a sweater.

Our office was 80+F for over 2 weeks, when I finally started complaining. It has been 74F on the dot ever since and it feels great!

My office is climate controlled, but earlier this month the furnace went out on this side of the building and I used the servers to keep the room warm . With no heat and an outside temp. of 0F, the servers kept it at a nice 80F. :D

68 is perfect...

Being too hot is the worst thing in the world. At least if you are cold, you can put a sweater on or something...

The office here is pleasant most of the time. The restroom on the other hand, is like 100 degrees for some reason.

Heat + toilets = oxygen tank required.

:disgust:

Our office sucks for climate control. Its always all over the damned place. I just keep a T-shirt and space heater in my desk.
Get hot? Wear a T shirt. Get cold? Kick on the space heater.

Regardless, 79 degrees is WAY to hot for anything. I'd frickin die. 72 for me please.

The women in my office bitch and moan when it's below 75...

I tell them that I'll start deducting the portion of heat they absorb from their paycheques...

they shutup... :)

(No, I know I can't do that, so don't bitch at me..:p)

Tell the geologist they can either wear warmer clothes, or you will remove yours...

In other words SFTU.

I can't stand people who complain its cold...because cold is usually 68, or 72...PUT ON A SWEATER RETARD.

Is it just me, or is there a disproportionate number of women who lack the ability to maintain a healthy body temperature. Every freaking woman at my office has an electric space heater blowing on her legs and I'm in here sweating like a pig. Maybe if you ate something besides two kumkwats everyday your crap factory could produce more heat? :D

I dunno. I guess my hairy legs may also help to trap more heat.

Definitely. A person can always add a sweater or whatever, but no options for being too hot.

Almost 80 degrees? That is sick, only geriatrics and tropical plants thrive in that temperature.

yeah space heaters are popular with the women here too......i'll go to look at their pc's and they've got the space heater on when it's reasonable here in the office. Totally uncalled for.

LOL, I think it's hormonal vs. leg hair, but who knows you might be on to something :D

Yah, almost 80 degrees is flippin' insane. Tell the geologist to knit an afghan or something.
