I clean under my sneakers nightly. Am I just nuts?

I need to have clean shoes and sneakers. I don't like to put on dirty sneakers in the morning before I go off to work. What I normally do is I will take my sneaker and run it under warm water while I scrub the soles. I have to get the dirt and stones out. I do this with both sneakers. Then I will let them dry over night and when I put them on my feet they're clean! :p

Once I get this done I start to clean my apartment. I have to get it clean! Last night I was up until 3am scrubbing the floors.

You should get some sticky mats. You put them outside your doors, and you walk on them, and they hold onto the dirt. When a layer is used up, you peel off the top layer and throw them away. Life will be easier that way.

I'd usually clean them every day when they are new. But after a month or 2 I generally slack off after they've gotten decent wear.

Do you want to stop doing it? Does it bother you that you do it? Does it keep you from doing other things you want to do?

If not, you're fine.

Wait, I never clean my shoes ever... but I also never EVER would THINK of wearing them indoors. Who wears their shoes in the house? That's just a mess waiting to happen!

What do you do for leather shoes?

If I step in something obvious like food, a lot of mud, puke, or some dog !@#$.

Otherwise they remain as filthy as ever, with not a care in the world.

Read the whole OP and you'll realize that no sticky mat will help the OP with his problem :)

A good old trip out to the farm would help him. Lived too sheltered a life, thinks dirt is... filthy, when in fact it's just dirty. :ninja:

A little dirt never hurt anyone. Especially not farmer or folks living out in the countryside.

I only wear sneakers for running, but I do pick out any stones and other junk stuck in the soles before I go out. But that's about as far as I go with it; I'm not a crazy person like you OP.

What, are you trying to give him nightmares?

How about this for nightmares: I would willingly lick the soles of my shoes in 2 seconds. Germophobes are so obsessed over avoiding the germs that IMO their immune systems are worthless. I'll eat my food I dropped on the ground, I'll bite my fingernails and eat food with my hands covered in crap, and I'll stay healthy the whole time because my body can easily handle it.

I clean them when they start to look like I've trekked for two weeks through swamps and dirt.

OP

I think you have way too much free time on your hands.

But if you enjoy it, more power to you.
