Since their inception I have sworn off MMOs due to subscription fees (something I will still never do for a video game) and pointless, grinding gameplay. But with everything going FTP and some of the more modern RPGs making the grinding problem more manageable, I caved and downloaded Star Trek Online last night. And I... *sigh* kinda like it.
Definitely not the best game I've ever played, and I'm only a few missions into the Klingon plot, but I can see the addiction. Ground combat is OK if a bit simplistic, space combat is awesome. The Trek nerd in me also appreciates a lot of little details, and just being able to command my own ship.
So... How exactly does one get dilithium and what are the best methods? Supposedly it comes through story missions but despite completing several I've yet to earn any.
Should I join a fleet? Despite my noobness I got 4 offers last night out of nowhere. Declined them all for now.
Any advice on specific items/ships/things in general to avoid/seek? My career is Engineer.
