I can't write to my slave drive in Win2k!

For some reason, whenever I attempt to write to my slave disk in Win2000 (NT based) - i get a
windows - delayed write failed error which states:

Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
\Device\HarddiskVolume3\****. The data has been lost. This error may be
caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please
try to save this file elsewhere.

Does anyone know how I can fix this error?

Is the drive damaged or set up incorrectly in the BIOS? Does it have drive manager software on it?
