Question I can't wrap my had around QLC SSD's but I bought one. Why?

I was an early buyer of SSD's. I think I paid around $200 for my first 128GB drive. I was leery of MLC drives back then. After a while I was worried about all of the TLC drives on the market but eventually bought one of them as well. But QLC? 4 bits/cell, that's just too much it seemed. 16 voltage levels? Too much.

Then on Prime day I bought a 4TB QVO 870 SSD for about $300 after discounts. Why'd I do it?

1. Great price. Might even be a good price a year from now.
2. I use FreeFileSync and Readyshare for my router. It scans with SSD's much faster than spinners.
3. Form factor is great, makes my moden/router area neater and I don't have to have an external power supply.
4. Uses less electricity and wakes up faster than a spinner.
5. Just curious as to how it will hold up. I'm not writing to it much as all and I have multiple back-ups so I'm not too worried about a catastrophic failure.

Unless there's a severe downward price trend that I don't know about for SSDs, especially QLC ones, then that indeed is a pretty great price, especially considering what's been going on with Chia mining (storage mining).

Then again, I think that most people stay away from QLC for Chia plotting, as it would wear out the SSD much too fast.
