I can't wait to welcome our Martial Arts Dancing Robot Overlords

Im struggling to understand how those robots are balancing and recovering from jumps so well!
It really looks like they are using motion capture suits (as said earlier) but that doesn't explain how the robots are recovering from moves with out falling!

Maybe there is a reason for humanoid robots! Those would be great at using in hazardous environments depending on how the feedback to the user is or how autonomous they are.

It's very, very impressive though.

know that they are individually controlled with a controller or motion capture suit. Impressive nonetheless.
I mean probably pre-recorded but still - they are robots. Demonstrating the ability to be agile and recover is just as important as analyzing a situation and reacting. AI, computing power, and camera technology is probably good enough that you could almost plug and play that module into something like this and actually have it able to have a low level fight with a human.

humanoid is absolutely pointless. Humans are stuck in human forms, robots are not. Why try to make it balance like humans when having 3 or 4 legs solve the issue? having a heavy base where you put the battery and heavy parts makes it stable and require less balancing effort.

I have seen leaked rehearsal video. But they are all part of commentary video so I'll link that.

skip to about 9:05 timemark.

I have seen other videos from late last year at China tech expo with the robot being remote operated and the operator asked if people want to see the sequence again.

no, they are remotely operated, very different from autonomous systems. Tesla cars are far more impressive in that regard.

I mean I did think that as well but if they can nail the autonomous bits (like the balance etc) and user feedback then a humanoid robot makes sense in certain conditions. Human constructed environments are designed with the humanoid shape in mind also a human controller is going to react quicker in some situations if his actions can be mimicked 1to1 by the robot, like just unlocking a bolt and opening a door and going up some stairs is going to be easier using a robot hand controlled 1to1 by a MoCap controller rather than using a tracked robot with a grabber.

DON'T BE BEATING UP THE ROBOT ON THE FLOOR THEN TEACH THEM TO STORM AN AREA WITH FIREARMS!!!!

Seriously though the second they nail battlefield robots is the second that things get terrible. Something with reaction times in the nanoseconds, with no human emotions and perfect aim is pretty terrifying.

If you are going to replace humans with robots, why wouldn't you reconfigure the space to make it more robot suited? Like automotive assembly lines can be much more compact. There is no point to have a robot that has to be controlled by a human.

I was thinking more like search and rescue in damaged buildings and fires.

Oh come on the Tesla robot would shit on these communist characters!
They'd wheel it in on a trolley, it would sieg heil a few times, threaten to impregnate several of the audience then it would fall over and Musk would say how amazing it was.

And tesla stock would rise on the announcement!
