I can't view my profile without Netscape crashing but IE works fine.

I use Netscape as my primary browser. When ever I go to view my profile Netscape always locks up. But if I use IE it works fine. WTF? Thanks. :)

P.S. I've been having this problem for quite some time now.

Muerto -- I just upgraded to NS 4.74, and I haven't had a problem, yet, not even those annoying "illegal operation" messages that kill the program, but not Windows. It's also much faster. :)

That said, I had no problem editing my profile in NS 4.73, either, except that it takes a while to load, probably because of all those icon images. At first, I thought my system was hung, too, but try it again, and allow a really long time for the page to load. On my system, it doesn't display anything but the white background until most of the page is loaded.

Another thing that seems to help is regularly clearing your cache and nuking anything left in your C:\WINDOWS\TEMP directory.

Zuni -- I'm probably at least as biased against Micro$loth (the software Borg) as you seem to be against NS. NS wasn't the company stupid enough to make the default of one of the biggest security holes in history, Visual Basic Script Hosting, enabled on installation, even though they were warned well in advance of the potential problems. CIH, Happy99, Melissa and I Love You viruses would never have happened without VBS.

MS hasn't issued anything better than a buggy virus since DOS 6.22, when they finally got everything they stole from DR-DOS working. :Q

Welcome to the buggy world of Micro$loth.

Netscape sucks. It's about time all you Microsoft haters woke up and smelled the coffee. They dug their own grave.

What Russ said - people complain about how Microsoft software sucks so bad, yet most people dont realize its 3rd party software that makes conflicts with "Winblows" or makes IE crash all the time. I've used Win95 OSR1, OSR2, Win98 FE, and Win98 SE all on different computers (a P166 Compaq, Celeron 366, 566, two different laptops) and I for one have never had problems with IE crashing or "Winblows" blue screening on me 24/7. I think its just dumb users who look for an easy way out to blame their incompetent computing skills on something.

Harvey how about a browser that doesn't follow hardly any of the W3C standards? How about a browser that can barely load a webpage? ;) Give me a break all companies have their bugs but Netscape is a POS :).

I can see this one turning into the philosophical (SPELING) war of IE vs Netscape.

Personally my view has been this.
Give me IE 5.x over anything. If I can not have that, give me netscape 4.x. If I can not have that, give me netscape 3.0. IE was CRAP before 5.0, talk about buggy, the only thing working was the error messages.

Netscape did not dig their own grave, microsoft dug it for them.

Zuni -- Agreed. They're all POS. I just choose this one, instead of the other.

Hey, kids -- What time is it?

It's Linux Time! :D

Possessed Freak, I agree partially. Microsoft certainly knows how push people around. BUT, Netscape sat there on the sidelines while IE supported cutting edge DOM standards. Netscape screwed it up for themselves as much as Microsoft played the BULLY role.

I mostly use netscape, myself. Just hate to give it all up to microsoft. I know, I know, "Resistance is futile"

Back to the original topic, and a trick someone taught me a while back. Sometimes these errors occur because of the bookmark. Delete the problem bookmark, type the url manually, make a new bookmark.

can't explain it, but I have had it work more than once.
