i have the 1.05 now, but i am trying to get it to 1.07
and it just sits there, and wont flash it. someone said to try to flash it back to an older version, and then flash it to 1.07. I did flash it to 1.04 then tried to 1.07 but it still froze.... I even re downloaded the 1.07 again.

Use a bootable floppy which has nothing but: command.com, io.sys & msdos.sys, plus the flash program & .bin file.
Remove any CD from drive before flashing.

A tip I read in a different forum is that some users found better luck using the firmware update downloaded from the European site as opposed to the Americas site.

Also,I read on the site that you should disable DMA, flash, then reenable DMA afterward. Try that and see if it helps.

Do any of you actually use DMA on your Plextors? I have a 1210A and plextor support told me that it isnt supported. It is supposed to support DMA Mode 2, but I get nothing but errors when enabled on my ASUS A7V.

To disable DMA.

Control panel/system/device manager/cd rom

uncheck the box in the settings tab

Are you running Win2K? I had a problem with my 8/20 SCSI where the firmware upgrade program would do nothing. I booted into my WinME partition and ran the program without any problems.

On the other hand, I get nothing but errors (= coasters) if I don't have DMA enabled. This a great drive though.

Hey. I heard something about having problems upgrading from 1.05. The suggested solution was to "upgrade" the firmware to v1.04 and then to v1.07. I couldn't find the original so don't know where to point you.
