I can't tell you how much I love MobileMe.

Just a little mini-praise here. I'm using the MobileMe trial and I must say, it's definitely made my life a lot easier. I went ahead and bought the full service for $70 (discount when you buy an iphone) and I'll activate it when my trial is close to expiring.

If you haven't already, give MobileMe a try if you're an iPhone user. Just a friendly recommendation from one forum member to others 😛

I've been using the trial also for the last couple of days. Works pretty nicely so far. I was thinking of purchasing the full service but I wonder if I can still buy it for the discounted price (bought iphone on friday)

I'm a bit surprised anyone here likes it. I find that it's more or less terrible. Push mail is nice, but the web apps are slow and buggy. Furthermore the push mode makes the calendar and contacts lists on my iPhone unbearably laggy, and the there's no "real" pushing to computers. Oh, and it's $100 year for Pete's sake!😛

If I want push mail, I'll go with Yahoo Plus at $20/year. The rest of MobileMe isn't worth the $80 premium.

I have .mac and the promise of what MobileMe is suppose to offer should be a great upgrade. However, Apple still seems to be having problems with the service. Plus, I just read that iDisk file sharing which was originally promised is currently not implemented. I am sure it will eventually be completely sorted out but I am thinking it would be best to wait until Apple gets everything working properly before jumping in.

I feel practically the same way🙁

I don't think the $30 discount is automatic...I tried buying .Mac like a month and half after I got my MB and the salesperson didn't sound like he'd have a problem with giving it to me for $69 without a receipt or anytyhing.

I'm pissed at Apple right now for lying about what Mobile Me really was up until this weekend. It was advertised as 'exchange' for the rest of us with instant syncing with the iPhone/Web Apps/Desktop Apps. Apple finally admitted over the weekend that its not push with the desktop apps, its the same old .Mac Sync on a specific interval. They even went to far as to change the wording on the website which previously said "Continuous Instant Updates on all devices" to say "Choose a sync interval for your Mac or PC. On your iPhone and the web, sync happens continuously."

Sure, 15 minute sync may be fine for some (and even fine for me in most circumstances), I was just annoyed that they blatantly lied about its capabilities for the past month. Such a simple thing for Apple to implement, yet they are stubborn as usual and misleading in its advertising.

Disappointed to say the least.

As for the 15 minute sync, F-Apple, I changed the autosync interval down from 15 minutes to 1 minute. Still not instant, but 1 minute is much more bearable.

Well even with the iPhone and the online app, it's not always synced. I deleted some emails from my the Mobilemail app and it took it around 5 mins before it synced it back with the web app. The web app seems to be the standard for which your email is based on... while I like the new interface, I'm not completely sold on the "Exchange" term they keep throwing around. It isn't like Exchange at all really.. from my experience.
