when ever i exit a open program half of the items on the desktop dissappears, the comp freezes except for the mouse and if i click it more than about 4 times the onboard speaker makes one beep and then it unfreezes about 5 seconds later.

this only happened about 2 weeks ago, and sence then:
ive reformatted the hd, run virus and spyware scans, nothing is overclocked, ran some nVidia stress test for 4 hours while i was at work, and nothing came back with an error...

EDIT: now it takes a long time for all of the programs to open, and half of them are not responding when i open them

specs:
asus m2n-sli delxue
amd athlon x2 3800+
true power 550w
xms2 ddr2 675 2gb

how do you do it, theres no straight forward program

i dont know if its the same thing but i did prime 95 and a stability test on the nTune

😕

Memtest86 is here, just follow the instruction on the site, it does not get much easier thn that.

http://www.memtest86.com/

well i defragged the comp and shut it down for a hour and it hasnt done it yet

i also moved it out from the wall, so maybe it was overheating??

What temps is it running at? For memtest, just download the cd file, burn it as a bootable .iso I think and then boot to it. It will start the test and tell you if there a problem in any of the memory locations. Run the test for at least a few hours if not overnight.

i dont got a dvd burner atm but, maybe its the vid card? i have a 6200le while my x1900xt is on the way, and its idleing at about 65C but its overclocked

i returned it to stock, and see if that does anything. ill post later

well i was swapping mem sticks, and that was no good, so then i ran the comp with the case cover off, and everything went fine. the second i put it back on, the lockups started again, so i think its a overheating problem... but i dont know what part it is

my cpu idles at about 40-42C, mainboard 10C, hdd 33C and gpu 66C idk what part it is, if its overheating problems at all.

any help is greatly appreciated

ya an 80mm in the front and a 120mm in the back

could it possibly be the hard drive or something, im really at my wits end... i'm clueless and pissed
