I can't take it anymore. How do I disable the windows key in Win2k?

Going from CS to Tribes 2 messes me up, and I hit the windows key like every few minutes.

Rather than learn not to hit it, I'd rather disable it :D

Is there any settings or program that will let me do this in Win2k?

Thanks.

Install the IntelliType software from Microsoft and they have an option in there to disable the Windows key. There ya go!

Hremm it would appear this is only for MS made keyboards? Or can I use it with any keyboard (what model would I select then)?

Thanks.

if its anything like intellipoint, the mouse software, it will work with any similarly designed hardware.

I thought about popping out the key, but with my luck I might lose it (and I'll still probably hit the sucker).

Put this into a .reg file and run it. Then reboot. This will totally disable your Windows key. To get it back, delete the Scancode Map key and reboot.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,00,00,5b,e0,00,00,5c,e0,\
00,00,00,00

Here's a doozy..

Is there any way to disable JUST the right windows key?

I use the left one all the time.. like shift and control etc..

But when playing some games I use the mouse in the left hand so sometimes I need to hit control and alt.. but dammit I hit the windows key a lot.. but I never use the right one so if I could disable the sucka my life would be a tiny bit better :)

Thanks

I have a Keytronic 2001 keyboard, and I simply popped it out and smashed it with a sledgehammer a few times after hitting one time too many.

Couldn't be happier :D

Change the 5c to 5b to disable the left Windows key.
