I have a regular FT job doing web development, which is fine except it can get rather boring. Since I like making things, I work on my own things in my spare time (mostly when it gets cold and dark and there isn't much to do outside).
Two winters ago I wrote this gmaps/wiki/mobile thing that never took off (all I have left is this 8mb screencast: http://mld.dreamhosters.com/Backup.avi), last winter I wrote an Android and BlackBerry app that graphs your call logs (http://phonalyzr.com) and now I'm working on two things at once: one iphone app for a new way to set reminders and one iphone/andriod/web real time multiplayer game.
It kinda sucks, as I can't devote much time to my projects and I find it hard to do them part time. My job pays actual money, whereas my personal projects is where I really learn interesting new technologies, have full design freedom etc.
