I can't stop coughing

I'm not sure if this is because of my allergies or because of an adverse reaction to my allergy medicine but i pretty much can't stop coughing. Every few seconds i have to cough a few times and it's starting to worry me. anyone else have similar experience relating to allergies?
 
I get that at least once every 3 months, and I do have allergies, but I didn't think it was because of that.

Is there a sharp itch in your throat?

It's not like sharp as in painful but i can definitely feel the next bout of coughs coming up as a odd itch. I tried vick's and ricola and both dont do anything
 
Yep, that sounds like what I usually get. Annoying as hell, but it should go away soon (within the next 10-20 minutes).

Yeah i think there's periods of coughing then in about 2-3 hours it comes back
