I can't stand these blinking Christmas tree lights. How do I make them stop blinking?

I have 3 strands of lights on my tree...2 blinking and 1 nonblinking. I'd rather have them all not blink. I suppose I could go buy some more (they're relatively cheap, I know) but I don't feel like putting my shoes on. :) They're not the old fashioned golf-ball size lights, just the standard lights.

I think that it would be quite difficult to stop them blinking.

As I understand it blinking lights like that are made with a bimetallic strip, that bends when it heats up.
when the light is on it gets hot, causing the strip to bend which breaks the connection.
As it cools down while not on the strip cools down and straightens causing the light to come on again.
The cycle repeats thus the blinking effect.

If you could somehow replace the bimetallic strips with normal metal ones then the problem would be solved, but I think it is easier to go and buy new lights. :)

If there's a clear "flasher" bulb (with a red tip, just like the poster above me said) on the very end of the string, remove it & replace it with a standard bulb.

Time your own blinking in sync with the lights so that when the lights are off, your eyes are closed anyways.

Time it so you close your eyes as they turn on and open your eyes as they turn off! :p
