I can't stand SPAM!

Nocturnal

I just deleted one of my e-mail accounts because it just gets spammed constantly. More than 100+ e-mails a day come into that e-mail address alone. I switched the account over to a gmail account. I can't stand spam!

I abandoned my gmail account, it got spammed hardcore. The bots are loose.

I get around 500 Pieces of junk mail split over 3 accounts. A combo of Apple Mail's junk filter, Postfix rules on work account, and spam assassin on school account takes care of all but maybe 25 of the 500.

Try some Spam Musubi from your local Hawaiian restaurant its really good. Its basically spam sushi but fried yummmmm.

My Gmail account gets a lot of spam, but the filters catch 99.9% of it.

I bought myself a domain and just host my mail on that now. I setup a junk box and all mail that's not from my family or online shopping goes into that junk box.

I also setup an email address for "might be good - might be bad" type situations where I'm leary of giving out my real email address but I might get something useful there. When I graduated from college, I put that address on the little card they gave us during the ceremony. I had never gotten any mail to that account before I didn't request - and now iI'm getting spam there.

So apparently, the final "gift" from the almuni association was them selling my email address.

I hate the "Unsubscribe" links... They are sooo tempting to use, but you don't know if they will sign you up for other partner's spam or if it is a legitimate Unsubscribe function...

I haven't had any problems with gmail spam at all. If anything, it's too stringent. A friend of mine's email went into the spam filtered area. Hotmail on the other hand is unusable for me because of the dozens of emails i get a day.

In college I used to grind up Spam with pickels, onions, and cheese. Then I would put it on a piece of bread and throw it under the broiler for 3-4 min until the cheese melted.

MMMMMM SPAM

I'm convinced that the saying that unsubscribe links just confirm you have an email address that gets checked is a myth. I know it's certainly possible that it's true, but I had an account that was going to hell (400+ emails a day) and I just wanted to see what would happen if I tried some of them out. (It was a Yahoo account, so I was also hoping it would just fill up and start bouncing back to the spammers, hopefully inflating their costs a tiny fraction of a percent) About 2 or 3 weeks later the amount of spam I was getting went down to about 100 a day. It seems that there were 5 or 6 major "companies" doing all of the spamming, because all of the unsubscribe places had only a few different looks. I haven't checked it recently, but in a last ditch effort, it might work.

The best option and can be done for under $20/yr including domain registration and web hosting.

There's also Spam Gourmet

I love it when I get fvcking US spawm, like "We're trying to deliver your $250 Ciruit City GC"
GO THE HELL AWAY, I AM FROM THE UK FFS.

I had to close my main Rogers account too, because it just had way too much garbage coming to it. SO UTTERLY FRUSTRATING!

What was the provider of the e-mail account you deleted?

Who doesn't get nailed by spam? I used to complain about it quite a bit, until I wised up and realized most of it was my fault. "It's all that free crap you register for on the internet" my roomie tells me....

Regardless, the filters on my email account don't work for jack....sometimes i get the same flippin' message 200 times in a row...

Like alot of other people do, I just use one email account for friends, family, etc. (ie important stuff) and 2 or 3 others for junk mail. AND EVEN THEN---I still get one or two spam messages......MAKE IT STOP Auntie Em!!!!

Spam is Good. Kind of salty but it's really good if you make some Rice A Roni and cut up the spam and put it in there too. Mmm.
