well, i ran x-setup, i'm running win-xp...
went thru all the options in x-setup... didnt do anything with the contral panel options

in x-setup:

All X-Setup Plug-ins > Appearance > Control Panel > System Icons > Visible System Icons [Everything is Checked to Show]

All X-Setup Plug-ins > Appearance > Control Panel > System Icons > Visible System Icons (NT/2000/XP) [Everything is Checked to Show]

All X-Setup Plug-ins > Appearance > Control Panel > Windows 2000/XP Icons > Visible Icons (System) [only shows Speech with edit path & delete options]

All X-Setup Plug-ins > Appearance > Control Panel > Windows 2000/XP Icons > Visible Icons (User) [shows nothing with edit path & delete options]

any help would rock... it's not the biggest deal cause i know they all reside in the windows > system32 dir but it's sortof annoying..

example:

in the control panel under clasic view i cant see "add or remove programs", but under catagory view i can...

in regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\Cpls [there is only speech]

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\Extended Properties\{305CA226-D286-468e-B848-2B2E8E697B74} 2 [everything is there, shows a list of DWORD Values representing all the *.cpl applets] - all of them have different values, from 0 - 9 other than hdwwiz (add hardware wizard) which is a decimal value of 4294967295...

again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.
