OK here is my deal , I just installed EAC and lame to rip my cd's. I can play them fine with several media players. but EAC doesn't recognize a cd is in the drive. I am using a 12x dvd drive and a 40x12x48 cdrw.

what the heck can I do? I tried installing adaptec's aspi layer but that didn't help.

I'm wondering if it's my drives, the 2 cd's i've tried are a reggae one from bujubanton and is at least 3 yr's old and 5 yr old one from the opera Aida.

you could try another software to rip the CDs... Audio Catalyst works fine for me
maybe it's just EAC that does not see the CD in the drive

maybe try CDEX? it's not as good as EAC and LAME but it does the trick, I used it for a long time until I discovered EAC+lame

In your EAC Options, what interface did you pick? I am pretty sure that is the only thing that would govern whether or not EAC sees the CD or not.

I use the top option, (installed external ASPI layer in winXP and it works just fine).

OK I had downloaded version0.95 pre-beta3, I went back and downloaded version 0.9 beta4 and now when I try and run it I get

a bunch of "unhandled exception" pop-up boxes and then it crashes. so It's definately w/ the software. I'll keep trying different things I guess
