Someone told me that I won't be able to overclock my Duron 600MHz with this motherboard.. Is this true?

modify MSI k7tpro board n u can OC.

u can adjust core voltage w/ L7 bridges (connect all = 1.85V)
u can adjust FID (clock upperbound) w/ L6 bridges (connect all = 1050MHz)
u can adjust BP_FID (clock) w/ L1 bridges (connect all = OC enable)
u can adjust BP_FID (clock) w/ soldering on mother board

go to this n read only about BP_FID
bcuz he did not modify L6,L7 bridges

So.. There's no way to connect the bridges on the CPU in certain patterns to set a certain speed without having to solder the motherboard and everything? That looks a bit complicated..

In order to change the multiplier, you have to be able to CUT a few bridges.

That is a serious undertaking if you look at how small they are.

Also, often a cut bridge cannot be reconnected by a pencil and will require a conductive pen to reconnect them.

There are guides around if you decide you want to.

there's one page with a handy graphical java applet that will show you graphically how the bridges will look.

sorry I don't have the link.

IaPuP is right
it's very hard to cut the bridges
only a few people who has good tools can do it
so we usally choose soldering on mobo instead of cutting the bridges

there r three ways to oc amd cpu
(1) using mobo supporting multiply adjustment like ASUS or ABIT (very easy)
(2) soldering on cheap mobo like MSI k7T (i feel easy but others doesnt)
(3) conneting n cutting the bridges (very hard)

there is a good guide to modify the bridges

i have modified 2 times. here is the first method (easyer than the second)

(1) connect L1 w/ pencile
(2) connect L7 w/ pencile (voltage -> 1.85V)
(3) modify k7tpro mobo (one cutting n soldering 2 jumper lines)

unfortunatly my oc web is a korean page. i guess u can't read
but u can see "http://www.chollian.net/~sendmail/overclock/k7tpro.jpg"

remember above oc method is only for duron650@850.
if u have 600 or 700 higher i will not work.
