I can't let go of my ancient computer

I bought an HP Microserver to serve as a low power/quite file server/web browsing general office machine to replace my old Dell 8250 Pentium IV circa 2003. However, rather than retire the thing I am loading a fresh install of Linux Mint Debian on it and browsing around for an SSD to give it some more life. The HP sits in the corner waiting to be installed as a pure file server.

Anyone else unreasomably hold onto very old hardware which you actually use every day?
 
I used to have a duron 800mhz that I liked to use over my 1.5ghz p4 socket 423. That old duron was the first machine I built, so I had kind of an irrational attachment to it.

I sort of know what you mean, I hate to throw things away, but I've gone through so much hardware over the years that I'm often selling stuff off that's less than a year old just to make space.
 
I have one of these made circa 1983.... still works too.

Had this model but was forced to throw away since I was moving and didn't have any space for it at that time. :'(
Good thing I still have my Commodore Amiga 500 and 64 stored in the shed.

nope... stock 700...it replaced a Pentium 60...I have long cycles.
 
We clearly have different definitions for the word "ancient".

P4 is still a great machine for most office type tasks.
 
wow that's pretty messed up man. I don't think I have a single piece of technology in my place older then 2005ish.
 
Still have my Pentium 60 silicon keychain

and an all metal 12cm fan off a Digital mini-computer. bloody thing was made in Germany. If I remember correctly, it draws 12V 2.5A
 
I was in a lawyers office once, and there was an ANCIENT something or other sitting on the desk. If I had to guess, I'd say it was from ~1988 or so. When I asked about it, he said he used it to run an old ass copy of Wordperfect he had :^D
 
My core2quad system went down a month ago. I resorted to using an old P4 3GHz system I got from my neighbor. I oc'ed it to 3.6GHz. It runs winxp quite well with a meager 1GB ram.

For general usage, I haven't missed my core2quad much.
