Hi,

I'm using Windows 10 Home edition. How can I use my Lexmark x2550 with Windows 10. I installed the Lexmark 2500 series driver but it is not recognized..

You have 3 options.

1. Buy a new printer with win10 drivers available.
2. Run win 7 or any other OS with drivers for that printer in a VM and print that way
3. install another OS with print drivers in a dual boot configuation(win 7, linux, etc) and boot it and use it to print when needed

You can also consider installing it as a network printer.

I could not install the drivers for my HP Deskjet F4488 when I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. I got it to work using compatibility mode. Might be worth a try.

I tried to work using compatibility mode. It doesn't work either.. I don't seem to install it as a network printer.

I installed Windows 7 with drivers for Lexmark X 2500 Series in Oracle VM VirtualBox. The installation seems fine but this time it gives me, "Communication not avaible: The printer cannot communicate with the computer." error when I go to print the page. I plugged off all the cables and plugged them into the computer but nothing changes.

How exactly did you setup the VM?
Did you install VBox Additions?
Did you enable serial ports (or USB, enable that, and use USB 2.0)?

If all else fails, couldn't you just set it up as a generic PS/PCL printer? There are universal drivers out there available

Use the Windows 7 Driver and install it in Compatability Mode .. see this link where someone had the same printer and issue .. They claim it did the job

You can get the Windows 7 Drivers here: http://www.lexmarkdriver.com/127/lexmark-x2500-driver/
You will need to select either 32 or 64 bit version.
I installed the Windows 7 Driver in compatability mode but it didn't work out for me.

I enabled USB serial ports and that worked! Thank you very much Elixer!
