I can't hear out of my left ear.

This happened a few days ago, and then the next morning I could hear again. Now I can't hear again. It started last night, and I still can't hear. My ear doesn't hurt, but it's like I can't "pop" it. What should I do?

I clean my ears with Q-tips every night, and I have never had an ear infection.

The only thing that I use my left ear for and not my right ear for is my XBOX headset. I have been playing 3-5 hours a day for the past week. But people rarely talk into it, soo....

Go see a doctor.

seriously...

though I had this happen once and the doc couldn't do anything. had to do it myself and got out a wax plug larger than I thought was possible...

i remember there was a thread like this a while back, he went to the docs, got his ear vacuumed, and can hear 100x better on both ears

Ummm... well I have never had an ear infection, and I clean my ears with Q-tips every night. I don't think I need to see a doc, because the last time it happened, it went away. I just don't know why it is happening.

Wasn't there an episode of Sanford and Son where Fred went to get his ear vacuumed out because he couldn't hear out of one ear?

you can get a syringe that has a plastic tip on it (not a needle) and use that to flush out your ear with warm water in the shower

also look at getting ear drops from a pharmacy, its most likely ear wax

if you go to a doctor see if they can flush it out with drops and/or warm water

i've been told that Q-tips are actually bad for you, they may clean some out, but while they do that they actually push it in too (that may be why you can't hear)

also try hydrogen peroxide

qtips bad. either you have a clog of wax.. or it's swimmer's ear. happened to me just under two weeks ago. I thought it was clogged, went w/ OTC stuff, very little dislodged. go see a doctor.. it wasn't wax, prescribed some antibiotic ear drops... took longer to work, but I can hear now. heh.

However, it's starting to hurt a little when i burp/yawn/hiccup, and occasionally feels as if something is in there. I think I should have used the drops a couple of extra days, but if it doesn't go away, back to the doc.. heh.

Ya if you go too far with the q-tips you're screwed. I cleaned my ear with like 5 one time right after each other and had the same problem for like 2 weeks couldn't hear crap, finally it was over then I stopped doing the five qtip (aka earsex) thing one is good for now...

You very likely do have wax clogging your ear... you can try a wax-cleaning kit from the pharmacy, but according to my wife (who is a doctor of Audiology) there pretty much worthless.. the best bet is to get your ears cleaned out professionaly by an audiologist & have your hearing checked at the same time.

seriously though, do not listen to these people that are telling you to stick things in your ear. and please, for the love of my sanity, do not light a candle in your ear.

see a doctor 😉

What's useless, the fluid? Maybe it's different for some people, but that liquid worked great for me.

It works pretty well for keeping wax from building up and/or removing small deposits of wax, but large thick blockages won't be removed by it.. not my opinion , but a doctors.
