I cant hear Audio CD's in my CD-Rom

i own an ACER 52x CD-Rom and a creative Sound Blaster 512 sound card

i have the back of the cd-rom connected to the (cd-in) port on the SB card.. yet i still cant hear audio tracks.. it reads them but no sound... i made sure the CD AUDIO wasn't muted in windows.. can someone help?

Have you tried the different inputs on the sound card? Peraps one of them went out? Confirm that the connections are made to the speakers as well? How about drivers for the card in the OS?

I had the same stupid problem in win2k w/ sound blaster live value. But then, the same thing was happening in win98 (dual boot).. It used to work too. I left it alone though because my stereo is hooked up to my computer and I only really use it for mp3s and whatever. I would like to know though.

what usually happens to people is that the pin-out on the cable doesn't match the drive/sound card pin-out so u don't get sound, or only one channel..
