OK something weird is happening to my new system. I have just built a new rig and installed Win XP pro and Norton Antivirus 2002. So far I have only installed from legit cd's that came in the bundles with my software. I also have set up outlook express with an IMAP account. Everything is going fine, until one morning i wake up and see that NAV has detected Nimda.enc about 30+ times on my system. I assume that it HAS to be coming from my IMAP account (I have only done web surfing on "big" sites). I scanned my system and it turns up clean. I assume everything is fine (BTW the directory that it is pulling all these infected files from is non existent.) I keep getting reports that look like

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\DOCUMENTS\MY PICTURES\SAMPLE PICTURES\megaman1.eml
is infected with the W32.Nimda.enc virus.
Unable to repair this file.

and as far as I can tell it is completely random. I keep scanning my pc and it is clean. I looked through my imap account and can't find any files or enclosures with the same names as the reports.
Please help :-(

romec, have you made sure that Norton A/V 2002 is scanning your e-mail?

"big" sites doesn't mean dick, too many corporations stupidly run IIS and don't have the patches installed. I would have thought most would have by now, but nothing's impossible.
