I can't get the right drivers for this modem

Ok, so I told my aunt I would fix her computer. I just reformatted it and reinstalled Windows 98. She bought it used, so she didn't have any driver discs. I managed to download the motherboard drivers from Intel's website (I downloaded them on my comp and burned them to a CD so I could put them on my aunt's comp), but I can't seem to find the right driver for her modem.

I don't know where to look, because I don't know what to look for. On the green PCB, it says Diamond Multimedia. On a beige plastic looking part, it says Atech ATS-127A. On the big black chip, it says Conexant.

Then I put the modem into my computer, and since I have XP, I guess it automatically got a driver for me. I went into System Information I think, and here is what I found: SupraMAX 56i, made by Sonic Blue, driver locations: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\modem.sys and C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\HCF_MSFT.sys.

What do I need to do to get it to work with Windows 98, and is there a way to test it if I don't have the username and password for an Internet connection?

Thanks.

Worst-case scenario, you can drive to CompUSA and pick up a cheap PCI modem that has Win98 drivers. :) But you can try here: http://www.diamondmm.com/archivelicense.php and sign up, open the email they send, go to the modem drivers, go down to the SupraMAX listing, and grab those.

You can test whether the driver works by dialing the ISP's number with a bogus username & password. If it manages to dial and attempt authorization, you're good.

Bigger picture: here are some resources to take along with you

I got the one from the Diamond website (I didn't want to do it before, because I had to give them my name and email address and I wasn't sure if it would even work). I installed it and it seems to be working, though I haven't tested it yet
Now I have to reinstall Windows again because I think I messed some stuff up trying to install it without the right driver. I get some stuff at startup about vnetsetup and vdx or something like that and then msnp32.dll. Oh well.

Thanks a lot!
