p2 400 on a Compaq Motherboard (Old ass compaq sys)

There is the ESS Maestro onboard sound, that kinda takes control. I am getting ,my Z-560s today, and I want to be able to use them on my SB Live! card. I cant find anything in the BIOS about disabling it (although disable onboard lan is there)
And I cant find any jumpers on the board itself.

Is there a way just to disable it in Win2k just so I can use my SB Live?

THnks

Yes you can manually turn off hardware in Win2K but you would think there would be a jumper that would do it or it may be diabled in the bios

I just manually turned it off in win2k:p

THe only jumpers on the mobo are for CPU clock speed, BIOS save/clear, and like one other set

None related to Sound

if you have an additional pci soundcard doesn it automatically override the onboard one?

personally i never buy borads with onboard sound cuz they cost more too ... and the only one that has sound thats worth it is nforce and i wouldnt touch one of those with a 10-foot pole!
