I can't get passed BIO Splash Screen

So I just got a new computer from my local computer store. I was able to test the computer out at the store and verify the specs etc. So I buy the computer and take it home and when I boot it up it brings me to the BIOS splash screen. So I can press del in order to get into the menu and there is a lost of other keys I can press. Well the problem is my keyboard wont let me select anything. My keyboard lights up but none of the keys work and when I hit escape or space bar the lights just shut off for about 15 seconds then just like cycle like they are on display.. I am so confused because everything was working at the shop now I can't get passed the bio's screen. I am using the USB 2 port in the front of the computer and have tried using multiple ports The mobo is ASUS P7H55-M Pro.

Have you tried plugging the keyboard into the back of the computer? Maybe the front panel connector for your USB ports slightly loosened from the motherboard enough to cause problems when you transported it from the store to your house.

You can turn off and unplug the PC, and check the connection.

H55? Hmm. Seems weird that they would sell a "new" PC with such old tech. Hope that you got a great deal. (OK, OK, I've got FM1 boards for sale too, I guess.)

One possibility, is that the OS was installed with "Secure Boot", which, I think, might record the IDs of the keyboard used to install it, and not want to work with any other keyboards. I've seen something similar happen. Had to re-install, or disable Secure Boot to get it to work, in my case.

Edit: That motherboard is so old, it still has an IDE connection!

OP, did you just buy this PC? Or have you had it for like 5 years? Because that board is OLD. If you just bought it new, I would take it back, and ask for a more modern platform. Unless you had a specific need for an IDE port, and also, depending on price.

Some of those smaller PC shops don't always keep up with the newest tech. (Ok, I still have H61 boards + Celeron G1610 CPUs in new builds to sell, built them last year, had the parts for a year or two before that. But H55 / Lynnfield? That's even older. At least, it's not Core2.)
