I can't get my nut off!

I have a lapidary saw with the blade held in place by a jam nut on a shaft. The end of the shaft is fitted for a hex key. Per the manual, the nut is left handed (righty-loosy lefty-tighty). The nut ain't budging and the hex hole started to strip. I've tried WD-40, heating the nut with a burns-o-matic, grabbing the blade while trying to turn the nut. Nothing works. Any ideas?

Did you try a lubricant, some mood lighting, and provocative music? ;)

What happens when you try to grab the blade? I mean something has to give... bondage often brings out a new element in dominance.

Put the blade in a slot in thick wood and use an impact wrench? Use a torch to soften the blade metal a bit in from the teeth, then drill a hole and bolt it in place? Then if you want to reuse the blade, drill a corresponding hole on the opposite side to keep it balanced.

Is it possible the manual is poorly translated into english and it's really a right hand thread? Should be able to tell based on which side the nut's on relative to the blade rotation, nut tightens the opposite direction of blade rotation.

Can you borrow your neighbor's nuts or the pool cleaner boy's, or source a new nut otherwise, maybe dremel away at it and use a nut-splitter, then a die to correct threads on the shaft if they get mangled?

It could be that you're just not that into her.

Try Transmission fluid and Acetone, mix it and use like regular penetrating oil. Works better than any commercial penterating oil.

All of these type saws have left hand threads to prevent the nut from coming loose when spinning the blade.

Good luck!
