Ok here are the steps that I did...can anyone troubleshoot this?

1. I have a msi 645 ultra motherboard attached to a P4 1.7 cpu.
I attached DDRAM 2100 128 mb to the motherboard, antec 300 w p.s., and a ultra tnt 2 video card.
2. There are no other components attached to the computer( hard drive, cdrom, dvd...etc)
3. Cables (video, mouse, keyboard, power supply) were attached to the back of the computer.
4. I turned on the power, cpu fan is running but I dont see the anything on the computer monitor.
5. The digital reader (usb front panel) has 4 red lights on.
6. I changed to antoerh p4 1.7 cpu and I still have the same problem.
7. Same with the memory.
8. I have no idea what the problem is. Any suggestions?

Try removing and reseating the video card. Do you get any POST beeps at all? Does the PS fan run, along with the CPU fan? What about the HDD or floppy? Did you hook up either one yet and if so does it look like they are powered? At this point I think you need to go through the cableing and switch wires very slowly and carefully. It is easy to get the switch/LED wires mixed up. Double check all your connections, one by one; expecially the MB connnector. Remember that the P4 systems have the extra 12volt line that needs to be hooked up also, I believe. It's probably something simple, you just have to be patient and find it.

Thanks of replying to my message about my computer.
I still have some trouble in understanding the situation.
What is the extra 12 volt line that needs to be hooked up? I was currently using a celeron, and I just had to plug in one power cable to the motherboard, around 1 inch long.
All the fans are running, and my video card fan was running to (p.s. is connected to the video card fab board, so i am assuming that the video card is working too).
Iam currently only hooking up the power switch onto the motherboard, none of the other speaker, reset, hdd led lights are attached to it.
Again I can boot the computer, but just no display. Do you know if I need to plug in a hdd or a fdd to the motherboard for it to boot up? (i doubt this one)
My guess is that is there a new power supply for the p4 systems?

thanx

The power supplies for a P4 system have a small square, 4 pin power connector which must be connected to the motherboard.

Also, plug in the speaker to the motherboard, as if there is a problem there will be beeps, which you can use to see what the problem is.

You do not need a floppy drive or hdd connected to post. Also try taking all of the cards/ram out and putting it back in again. Sometimes this is needed for it to make a proper contact.

Good luck getting this system up and running.

Those are my suggestions now, i am off to bed so i will be unable to reply for a few hours.

I have the same board and 4 red LEDs mean the CPU is damaged,
not fully seated or the CPU fan is plugged into the wrong header.
12v power connector would be nice too.

i was wondering if i need a new power supply. I dont have the convertor to the 4 pin. So would I need a new hard drive. I only have the one that only has connection to the mother board.
