So I have been tracking my calories using sparkpeople. I'm not the best at tracking every day, but when I do track I make sure to get everything. If I have a slice of cheese, it goes in there. This is particularly easy when I am cooking all my meals. It's tough if I go somewhere to eat. I know it's just an estimation and it's not 100% accurate, but everyday I am a few hundred calories short of my BMR (1930/day).

I'm trying to loose weight, basically planning a regiment based off the sticky thread and some other sources. I just can't seem to get to my BMR, I'm always short, sometimes as much as 400 cal. Is this an issue or am I too worried about a number? I'm always full after a meal, Im not going hungry here.

5'7 198 at last weigh in. I'm pretty active. I do cardio at the gym 3-4 times a week, 30-60 minutes. This is combined with weight training. I do two split days, one full day and one circuit day. Some times I skip the cardio at the gym in favor of cycling, always 15 or more miles (it's pathetic how slow I have gotten on my bike). I'll go rock climbing if the weather/time allows. Friday - Sunday I'll go skiing, but only for a few hours. Id say I'm fairly active!

How are your energy levels? If you're trying to lose weight then you want to be a little under that BMR number.

As long as you've got energy and aren't feeling tired, exhausted or otherwise drained then you're fine and you'll notice the weight coming off.

I'm opposite end of the spectrum. To gain I have to eat 3000+ and lift. Sucks because it's hard to eat 3500 cals/daily. I'm a tiny guy.

actually, to lose weight you want to be above BMR but below caloric maintenance number.

I found this out the hard way, I was way below BMR because I was way to active for how little I was eating(3000-3500 calories) But since changing off strong lifts and no longer squatting 405x5x5 or damn near it 3 times a week I've been dropping weight, quickly.

I may be different that most of you guys but I don't see how you can have an issues eating less than 2000 calories, there are times I'll eat 4000+, clean, a day and still feel hungry.

Are there any calorie dense healthy foods that you have a sweet-tooth[for a lack of a better term] for? For me, it's really easy to go overboard with almonds since I love em. I could down an 8oz package without thinking twice... which is why I don't have any around when I'm cutting. :p

Nuts in general are good calorie dense foods in general, if you're not worried too much about body composition I'll drink a liter of orange juice in an hour(easy 1000 calories). Milk is obviously another good source(1000+/day). I can eat the some chicken some of my post workout meals are a pound+ of chicken. Eggs are fairly calorie dense and don't fill you up too much either. My diet right now it lots of chicken, eggs, hamburger, bacon, oil based dressings(EVOO), leafy greens.

Interesting. Maybe I'm just confusing BMR with caloric intake.

Pantlegz1: I'm only 5'9" 135lbs. I'm pretty small. About 6% bf. I have a very high metabolism and when I'm working out I can eat and eat no problem. There are days on end where I can go 5000-6000 calories and barely be content. It's hard because I'm so busy. I hardly have the time to eat that much. And when I do it's because I'm not active...thus lower appetite.
