I have a folder:

c:\program files\microsoft frontpage

i want to delete it.

I CAN'T.

I have uninstalled frontpage too.

i still can't.

WTF!!???

i right click on it and uncheck the "read only", and it won't stay off.

i also tried rebooting in safe mode.
NO LUCK> 🙁

How do i fix this crap?

i'm using winxp w/ntfs partitions.

i went to safe mode.

i deleted it.

then i rebooted normally.

it comes back...it haunts me!! i even uninstall ms office xp too!

and it' still comes back!!!

well this is a little far fetched, but couldn't u delete stuff from the recovery console? (not exactly dos but close)

the error message says
"cannot delete bin: it is being used by another person or program.
close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

tehre is a "bin" folder in that directory that i cant delete.

kill explorer, start a command window and try it there (booting to dos may not work if it is ntfs)

it'll be there when you reformat. it's there in the default install of XP, and IT NEVER GOES AWAY.

stop caring about it.

microsoft activesync won't sync my outlook w/that freaking folder there!

Yup, just like Xerox folder. I can understand FP, but Xerox?

What I wonder is why the hell Windows needs to pull poop like that.. For example, I never ever put anything into the My Documents folder (or subfolders like My Pictures), because they're not treated the same way as generic folders you create. I don't want Windows doing unpredictable stuff with my data.

Here's the answer, you ready?

Open cmd prompt, run TASKMGR.EXE, end task on explorer, browse in cmd prompt to the directory, delete the directory in command prompt, then in task manager go to File, Run, then type in explorer.exe

Its gone and your happy.

P.S. This works with all those pesky undeletable files hackers like to leave on your pc to piss you off.
