Hi
I am really looking for help on how to fix this problem. I have formated my computer twice and installed xp but the problem is still there.

right after I formatted the computer and installed xp, i installed nod32 and zone alarm
I then updated nod32 and everything was fine.

then i tried to do windows update but IE wouldnt work so I turned off zone alarm..
i got infected immediatly after that

I ran nod32 on my computer and it detected that irc sdbot.ah trojan has infected wuamgrd.exe
I couldnt find wuamgrd.exe on my computer

I rebooted my computer in safe mode and ran the antir virus program again but it still cant delete the file
(the file is no longer in the system memory cus I fixed the registry entries) I have no idea why

I ran trend micro and mcafee online and both of them cant detect this virus..
and I have also tried to update windows but I the updates werent successful (this is the first time I have seen a windows update being unsuccessful)

Please help. what can I do?

hi, wrong forum.

I was going to type that you should just go to safe mode and delete it but you tried that

hi crazysword,

follow the instructions here. if you're not disabling system restore then the worm will just keep regenerating itself.

pass it on.

I already diabled system install

I would consider myself as a fairly experienced computer user and I have never faced such a presistent virus

try booting into safe mode and delete it from there.

if not get one of those file shredding software that'll delete anything.

Since your at a point where a re-install is an easy option. Reinstall, but do so with the network cable unplugged. Then once your in Windows activate the Windows Personal Firewall (more then adequate to protect you from this virus problem). Then plug the network cable back in, and run Windows Update.

Or do it with Zone Alarm. There is no reason ZoneAlarm should block you from running Windows Update unless you are denying Internet Explorer access when ZA asks you.

Windows XP Personal Firewall
