I can't defrag or scan the partition Win2K is on!

When trying to defrag with Perfect Disk my main partition where the O/S is installed I get the following message:

"Invalid Disk State for partition G:\, restarting analyze pass."

And it keeps doing that until I stop it. When I try to runs ScanDisk with all the options cheked (automaticly fix errors, and search for bad sectors) I get an error message saying that it can't obtain exclusive usage of the parition or something like that!

WTF is that all about?

Thanx in advance

in order to use scandisk on your system partition, you need to try to do it, then when it says cant get exclusive access, choose yes to check it on next reboot, then reboot and it will scan it as it boots.

I am not worried about scandisk, I only mentioned it because I thought that it was relevant to my problem. My main problem is that I can't defrag the drive. What am I supposed to do so that "Win2K's internal disk management will yeild control"?

Thanx for your replies

well, if you use the built in tool to defrag, it should work fine. its actually pretty damn good, its really diskeeper, just with some features disabled.

i would check the Perfect Disk site for win2k specific hints..and maybe email their support...as i had no problem getting either the real diskeeper or norton speed disk to defrag my win2k drives.
