I can't connect to one site...

I've been having the intermittent problem of not being able to connect to one particular site. It's fatwallet.com (no intent on my part to offend anandtech). Sometimes i can get to the site no problem and other times i just get the "The page cannot be displayed" message.

I deleted my cookie to that site, i looked in my hosts file for fatwallet but didn't fine anything, and tried connecting without zonealarm active, but no go.

Any ideas on what to try next?

Hmm, I can't think of a way a router can block access to a single site since most routers have features that allow you to block ports and not really any other blocking ability.

Do a traceroute from your PC to fatwallet.com. Start > Run > type 'cmd' no quotes > type 'tracert fatwallet.com'

See if the traceroute goes all the way through to fatwallet.com or if it times out at any point (timeouts are denoted by an asterik '*').

It might also be that fatwallet has blocked your IP address from accessing their servers. You should email fatwallet and let them know you can't access their site; if they didn't block you on purpose then I'm sure they'll be interested to know (and figure out) why some visitors may not be able to get to their site. Their servers could also be running some kind of automated protection tools for their web server that blocks IPs temporarily for abuse-related issues, etc.

I just ran the traceroute and there were no timeouts. I'll email fatwallet and see if it's on their end.

thanks.

Ok, I changed my default gateway in my router settings and now i can connect. I have 2 default gateways that i can use for my router (according to my network admin).

So now that it works, does anyone know why one default gateway number would connect and the other would not?
