I have an Older BenQ 3210, I dont burn Very Often but I have never Had problems with it b4

A week ago I went to Burn a Disc It locks up with a Media errer I have to use tasman to shutdown the software, AND reboot b4 The drive will Open. This was on an Expensive Sony CDRW Disc, Tried a cheap Memorex CDR same thing.

First thing I spect I haven't Burned anything since upgrading to XP, Check BenQ's Site for drivers and Flash the firmware. Still a No Go.

So I boot up Into 98' I know there Hasn't been any changes there in a Looong Time, Still wont Burn..

Decided the Old drive Just Burnt up on me so I ordered a new NEC 3520a..

Welp I'm having the Exact same Issues Except the Media errer instead all it does is Lock Up the sofware and I have to reboot to get the drive to open.

Any suggestions?

The IDE channel is set to UDMA in the BIOS only other option is disable..

And apparently XP doesn't have a resources Tab in Device manager for CD drives

Check it in windows: device mgr/ide controllers/primary and secondary

all should read "DMA if available" then the actual mode listed below it.

sounds like everything is hooked up right. You may have something as simple as a bad ide cable. try another one if you have it.

lastly, are you sure that it is burning at max speed? What software are you using to burn?

OK Update

I placed both drives one-at-a-time into an old Celeron 700 HP I have sitting around..

Both drives Operate Perfectly.

I'm Useing Nero Suite 6 OEM

I Have noticed in the System Info Section of Nero It says My System ASPI is Not installed
There were 3 files Listed on the HP 98' System tho But Nero reported it as Installed and working

Unles I canabilize the HP the only IDE cable I have extra is an 80 Pin, Will that work?

How do you suppose I go about re-loading My ASPI drivers hhhm

OK Got it figured Out, and feel Dum, LOL all I needed to do was DL a newer wnaspi32.dll
Tho that dun explain why it didnt work in 98 on this machine.. *shrug*
