Apparently, where we're from, most women want their men to smell good... but where y'all are from, apparently the hills of BFE, either women do not, or y'all do not have women. :hmm:

It seems to be regionally cultural. I know there are some threads that follow the "men do not wear pleasantly-scented things" belief but it seems like such an age-old and nearly extinct image of manliness.

Smelling good (versus smelling like the fleshbags we are) is pretty much the standard when trying to be presentable (to women or to the public). Seems to always be accomplished with scented things, but some men go with low-key if more appropriate.

And some have to (or should, dammit!) but shucks, they subscribe to the "men don't wear such pansy-shit that covers up our natural smell!"
ugh. Half are hippies, but most hippie wannabes these days just use strange-smelling things versus shunning anything.
People who go so far as to shun deodorant or AP piss me off like no other, because they need it something fierce more often than not.

Some people sweat with foul-smells, and that emanates from multiple areas on their body. So even deodorant doesn't cover up the other sweaty parts. They desperately need good-smelling sprays or something.

Feminine/"Natural"/unisex smells are no-go on a guy (most unisex smells I wouldn't want to smell on a woman anyway)...this only applies for good manly smells. :awe:

I just wear antiperspirant so that my natural man smells don't become too overpowering; I could see them causing a sexy, sexy riot in an enclosed area.

I will wear cologne but only generally if I'm dressing up, or trying to get some chicas attention.

No natural man smell exists that could cause anything other than a gag-inducing reflex if too potent, or otherwise elicit any response.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you actually probably smell like ass (or like flesh, or like scented soap - ie super low-key).

Yes, you're being facetious (I hope), but a lot of people actually believe we make some kind of musk or pheromone or something, which is lol to the lol.

You either smell foul when you work up any kind of excitement, or you have a scent that doesn't elicit much response from our senses. And there's bad, but there's also the "each droplet of my sweat contains pure essence of reek" ... and I have sympathy for those types - I imagine their only hope of getting laid is some girl who just doesn't care about smells, or a girl who for some reason can't smell his particularly dreadfully potent product. Poor saps, they have little to no hope. :(

guys, "toilet water" should have been a joke you got over with in elementary school.

It's a weaker form of cologne -> perfume/parfume.

It makes sense that you are familiar with the term, as it is probably pretty much common knowledge for every single person throughout Europe.

It's actually a rarely-used phrase here, though I'm not sure about Canada; I rarely see it on most packaging here, and it's obviously not common knowledge otherwise for the average US citizen.

I probably would have learned of it later, the way I learned of the phrase was in my first French instruction in Junior High.

Even if the phrase is common here, I wouldn't be familiar with it. I never use fragrances and have no interest in them.

I only noticed the fact that it was for men, but the TV show definitely is not.

The thing is it's not something used in speech very often here it's just what you get on certain products like the thing in the OP, not quite perfume just sub-perfume, I'm not sure what else you would call it.
