The option to disable the sidebar menu, although included in the profile section, doesn't work. Apparently this is intentional so that ads can be placed under it.

But I wish something was done about it, but dealing with it is one of Anandtech's lowest priorities.

A number of people have posted hacks to remove that bar. There is no way to do it using the forum software, but it can be parsed out as the page is loading.
