Compare a fast-paced college basketball game to an NBA game... The college players are hustling their asses off, while NBA players already have their contracts and paychecks and thus jog around at a much more leisurely pace.

lol @ fast paced college bball games.

90% of the time, they're passing the ball back and forth around the perimeter and hoisting up 3's because of the zone defense.
and they do it for what, 40 seconds cuz of the shot clock?

Football is about it. I root for Alabama, and anyone that is playing Auburn, Tennessee, or Notre Dame.

I watch little pro sports and a lot of college. One main thing for me is that I see college players as playing for the love of the game rather than for the money. You don't have college sports going on strike, because their multi-million-dollar salary just isn't good enough.

I've lost hope for college basketball, but then again I don't follow the NBA too closely either. Both have too many meaningless games for the most part.

Love college (and pro) football. I'm not hardcore enough to stay up and watch the WAC games late Saturday night anymore, but I'll still watch games even when it's not "my" team.

Great question, how does anyone folllow 180 college football teams when following 30 NFL teams is so difficult. People that follow college sports so closely live and breath sports. Its like people who play WOW, thats all they do

I struggle with college sports because I don't care. I don't have allegiances. My school was D1, but a mid-major in basketball and had no football team. I didn't grow up watching a Notre Dame or Penn State or Duke or UNC, so I don't really care who wins. I'll still watch, but not as actively as I do the pros.

I follow the top 25 in college football and usually watch a couple games every Saturday. These games are always more exciting to me because the rivalry between teams is so much more apparent. In any given week a top 5-10 team can get upset by an underdog.

I only watch college basketball during March madness. It's too difficult to follow the whole season.

maybe because my school did not participate in division I.
maybe because the good basketball players only play for a year and bolt for the nba.
just can't get into it.

what's the draw in college sports?

The draw is in the quality of play. It's not professional, but it's pretty dang quality. Football is almost as much fun to watch as pro, the play is different and you will always see at least one big play. Basketball is the same way (I can't watch pro basketball, boring), all during the season there will be buzzer beaters and upsets.

Pick a school near you and watch them/follow them. That will get you interested. Here in KY college basketball is like a cult.

I only like college sports that aren't sports with major, highly televisions professional equivalents. I have tried numerous times to get into college football but it is very hard because the players are TERRIBLE and the coaches are STUPID far too often. Talent is diluted and the gap between NFL and college is too big...

College basketball is a bit better, but still there is a huge difference in the quality of play and players. College players pass for longer than the NBA shot clock a lot of the time. They have substantial problems with full court presses on a regular basis even at the highest level. The best college team would stand no chance against the worst NBA team in a game using either set of rules. There are far more huge blowouts in scores because there is such a huge imbalance between teams. But I do like the energy level of the crowds, the way players are better at some fundamentals than NBA players (though clearly worse at others), and the elimination tournament format. Still not enough to follow it closely.

I just don't enjoy watching sports at anything but the highest level. Some people do. I don't even really like boxing bouts like Gatti-Ward or early US Open tennis matches that go to 5 sets. They seem thrilling but that's because it's two mediocre athletes. The same is basically true of college sports.
