My Dad passed away a few years ago, and this past weekend I finally went through all of his old camera stuff. I knew he had a Canon EOS film camera, but didn't remember any specific lenses. Well, suprise suprise, I found a 100mm Macro and a 2x teleconverter. JACKPOT! Both are from the late 80s or early 90s, and the sharpness is outstanding! I've got a set of Kenko Extension Tubes on the way, so I'll really be able to get down and dirty this weekend.

I've always loved textures, and macro makes it so easy to take cool texture pics. You get to see things as the normal human eye can't. Probably explains why I'm obsessed about Infrared photography, too.

Couple samples from my first go with the combo (used a 430EX with diffuser for lighting):

Nice shots. BTW for anyone getting into macro i can't recomend enough the cheap ass deal extreme extension tubes. 🙂
 
woah. gotta get me some extension tubes then. what lenses do they work best with? I've got a 35mm f/2D, 50mm f/1.8D, and 80-200mm f/2.8, all of which have aperture rings so I can use them easily in manual mode.

Damn, I didn't know those existed. I'm not too torn up about it, though. I traded a lens I never use (Canon 28-105 USM).

I bought the canon 100mm 2.8 USM and I need to build a defuser for my 430EX. I love this lens though! I wonder if I should pick up some extension tubes as well...

I ordered the DealExtreme cheapies yesterday after reading this thread. Interested to see how bad they suck (or don't suck).
 
damn. i jsut sold my macro because i didn't think i'd like to shoot anything with it....but after seeing these pictures..i want it back

A month? Whew, I don't know if I could stand that wait. Do they ship it over in a hot air balloon?
