I can set up the RAID IDE ports on an A7V133 to run straight ATA100, right?

I got a new HD for Xmas, and I thought I could set up the Promise controller on the A7V133 to run the RAID ports as regular ATA100 ports (like the two primary IDE ports on the board)... so, in theory, have 4 more IDE devices connected to those 2 RAID ports, except I wouldn't be running RAID.

Does anyone follow me? I can do this, right?

If memory serves accurate, yes, you can. I know you can run one HD on the controller. If you are running raid now though, you will lose everything on your HDs when you change to non-Raid. During bootup, you will be prompted for the Promise setup (it's ctrl-H or ctrl-S, or something... I haven't looked in a while). Just set up as two drives. Double check in the mobo manual.

yep......i've used the ATA100 ports before and never ever used RAID so yes you can.

now i just use the ATA66 because i cant tell the diff but i sure can tell the boot time difference and also its less of a pain in "other" OS's 🙂
