Im hooked up to a college T3 through 10mbps LAN.
Yesterday, I was playing a game, and all of a sudden I could not connect. "Could not send UDP packets" or something. Now, i can no longer search any game servers, connect to any FTP sites (sites hosted on a friends computer OR an FTP hosted on my own), but I can still read web pages.
Then, eventually, the internet will just cut out, and I cannot do anything. IPCONFIG /renew does nothing, i cannot get an IP address back.
Im running XP, ive done some Registry Tweaks to get the network going faster, but this just happened all of a sudden, in the middle of game playing, not after any reboots, so it is strange, and it hasnt gone away.
Please, help me get setup. Im about ready to format and start over, but I have no means of backup.
Thankyou in advance,
Adam
*p.s.--is there any chance a Cat. 5 cable with a slightly messed up jack would be causing these problems? Because mine is just that--slightly screwed up, you can see all of the wires at the tip near the jack, but they are all properly connected.
