I can not install this GF4 mx440 video card for some reason

My friend got a gf4mx440, but cannot get the card to work in a compaq deskpro EN. e can install the drivers fine (28.32), but the drivers won't load upon reboot because of a resource conflict with the ACPI BIOS memory.
