I can hear my CPU!

Ok, I can hear a soft buzzing noise when CPU utilization is high and the noise appears and disappears at the same time CPU utilization changes (like not even a half second delay). I've disconnected my HDD, video card, unplugged all fans and moved the PSU a few feet away - there is nothing moving inside the case except electrons and I can still hear the noise from the CPU area when CPU utilization is high. What could it be?

The CPU is AMD X6 1055T, works great otherwise (and it's not overheating, runs quite cool), motherboard is Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H.

Well so much for Gigabyte Ultra Durable with all that extra copper. It's not even overclocked...

Thanks guys, I'll get a new motherboard just in case.

I don't know about you guys, but I will RMA the mobo if it makes noise.

Not I. That board you have is so happy that it hums. Sounds like a good board to me!

This is a serious problem, you should submerge your entire pc in water. As it will take care of the buzzing.

Where's the CPU cooler? It would me making some noise. And if it's not there, there is a major problem.

he said he stopped all the fans.. so how can a hunk of copper and aluminum make noise!.. as far as gigabyte ive never had a good gigabyte mobo (only ever owned 3 and all had problems). i had the ULTRA DURABLE and it wouldnt even run cpu at more than 6x multi.. i rma it and asked what was wrong they said it needed like 10 caps replaced and few other things.. i couldnt believe it went so bad (it still worked but was only 6x multi)

you need to buy a nice ear muff ... ok seriously, probably motherboard or PSU. I once had a PSU doing the singing then after like 2 days (I know I shoulda replaced it but I didn't know better) it smoked itself.

How can it be being cooled properly under load then?

It's not the PSU, I put it a few feet away (so that I can hear the case on the left and PSU on the right) and I also tried it with a spare PSU, same thing.

And every core contributes to the noise a little, tested it with prime95, gets a bit quieter after each core goes idle.

As for the motherboard, it started when I upgraded the CPU (same mobo) so I don't know, could be that triple core didn't make as much noise at load.

I'll probably get a new motherboard.

I use HDT (heatpipe direct touch) massive heatsinks so even if i ran fanless it would be fine temp under load.. sure if the room was hot and i ran 100% cpu usage for a long time it might heatup to much but seriously you cant test for a few mins with 100% cpu with out worrying? or you use stock heatsinks hehe
