The whole market is down. A lot of people bought (or even panic bought) during the pandemic to do work from home or for other reasons. There was always going to be a dip afterwards, but high inflation added on to that is going to exacerbate the effect.

Everyone is getting caught in the storm. Investors are trying to figure out who'll be able to weather it best or emerge in a position to grow in the aftermath.
I get what you are saying, but as I expected (personally) Intel would be even worse at data center due to SPR being such a failure (IMO), and AMD would be the logical choice as a superior chip, and until Intel gets a really competitive server CPU, AMD will keep getting market share. The intel side has proved out my expectations, and expectations are that AMD will be profitable, and be higher Y/Y on data center (server cpus).

Desktop and other areas may be down for AMD, not sure there.

This is all my personal opinion, please no flames. Lets see what happens Tuesday.

I watched an episode of Married with Children today. This was the mc's favorite word in some episodes.

Contracts! do you remember the old ancedote that popped up in the lexicon in what was it, 94 or 96? no one gets fired for buying ibm? Ibm never ran with that lingo phrase line but people did! with ibm's fall from the grace of heaven intel took over and intel became the brand to use in that silly phrase. no one got fired for buying intel, even if the amd opterons were better for a time. even now the intel's under partnership contracts are a safe buy because of their easy integration. once those contracts expire it's easy to see who's the clear winner. amd surpassed opertons holdings a few quarters ago, the difference today vs 20 years ago is all these dc and hyperscaler people have platforms where they can discuss their jobs normal people like you or me don't. or they connect on the twitter or linkedin. they know they won't get in trouble for suggesting amd epycs be bought to replace their power hungry less performant xeon counterparts. it's why I said to you last night I don't see intel making any headway even 7 years from today in their xeons. intels' been in the backseat back mirror or whatever dumb crap Pat was spouting off last summer. Intel's been in a dang panic mode sine 2017. every day their reputation is damaged more and more.

Just pray that doctor didn't overclock his/her finger when doing the exam to make it go faster.

Remember, that part like a threadripper requires factory set torqe when put together again.

(serious comment... gl, on that exam, hopefully everything comes out normal. I think im getting that age where i need to get one scheduled soon too.)
I meant to clear this the other day but forgot to press post reply.

I have an exam roughly every 18-24 months due to some prior health issues and other reasons not worth the time to get into. It's all very precautionary and I encourage any man at 40 and above to get it done in faster intervals than the prior medical recommendations which is beginning at 50 and 45 for men with high risk. Mine began earlier but some docs are now recommends earlier like beginning at 35 where that was the beginning phase if you had an immediate family member who developed it. Celebs like Stiller or Kimmel coming out with their health and on screen exams pushed a wave of men young and old to get it done. some orgs recommend a yearly during your physical. your health is not something you only worry about when you're old as a rock given the utter crap we ingest nowadays compared to the old days.

Pat Gelsinger probably would have traded places with you.
I'm positively certain that Pat Gelsinger has felt the full force of Dr. Lisa Su's and AMD's foot up his behind ever since he was announced as CEO. He doesn't need another finger up there. Never mind the number of people he needs to pacify to keep his position whereas the bean counters would quickly install another moron who's looking for short term profits at the expense of long term product delivery on a regular interval.
