I can boot from Hiren 9.9 but nothing else.

Trying to install windows on a computer I recently put together. It wasn't booting off windows 7 so I tried XP and Vista as well. It just sits at 'Boot from CD' for a few seconds then shows 'BOOTMGR is missing'.

It will however boot into mini xp with my hiren 9.9 disc...

I've tried 3 different CD drives as well. What gives?

Have you used these CDs/DVDs to boot on other computers? Are these legit windows CDs or are they copies?

Do you have USB card readers plugged in? (on monitor or printer) Unplug them.

sounds like a disc or disk player problem and since you have tried multiple cdrom drives, that leaves the disk.

unplugged a usb sd-card reader and that seemed to fix it. weird...
