Well, I recently built a new machine and gave my old machine (the one I am using now) to my mom. [Her computer became a server]. I didn't reformat or anything on this computer so all my settings are saved. And for some reason, I can't see the other computers on my home network but I can access the internet through it..

The only reason I could think of is because my old computer and my new computer both have the computer name "mrcodedude." I'm guessing that's the problem, is there a way to change this computer's name? I'm running WinXP.

to change the name of ur computer, go to ur My Computer, right click and select properties.

in the tabs, select Computer Name, click on Change... and change ur computer name.

in order to see your other computer, make sure both computers are part of the same workgroup, also make sure Client for M$ Networks... then u should be able to browse it through network neighborhood... if not, you're gonna hafta look through ur TCP/IP and other Networking settings.
