I came within about 5 feet of getting a hole-in-one on a 269-yard par 4...

It was actually the last hole I played today because afterwards it started raining like crazy. I think I would have quit the game of golf if the ball had gone in the hole.

Haha, that is fantastic.

The closest I have come is a few inches from the hole on a ~150 par 3.

Must have been an extremely strong drive!

I average 235-240 yards with my driver. So 269 yards is farther than I normally hit the ball.

Nope, it's true.

269 yards is not a long par 4. It probably could be considered an extremely long par three.

nice..

was this from the back tees? if so thats a really short par 4

Still not too shabby. I've only played gold once but I birdied a par 3. My friend, who had been playing a while, couldn't believe it. I had a decent tee shot followed by a lucky-as-hell putt from about 20 feet.

269 from the back tees, 251 from the middle tees, and 233 from the front tees. Chick Evans is not a long course. There are only two par fives (497 yards and 486 yards) and it plays only 5626 yards from the back tees.

Executive course are a little bit shorter; I haven't had an handicap since I played golf in high school; the ball landed on the fly about ten feet from the hole and made a huge divot in the green; the hole was slightly uphill; and the wind was blowing from right to left.

These days that's not even a crazy 3. My home course has a par 3 that plays 258 from the back tees and there are a few on the PGA Tour that long. When the US Open is played at Oakmont in 2007 the USGA plans on lengthening the 265 yard par 3 8th hole to something above 285.
