I'm down in Atlanta for week on a business trip. As an act of courtesy, the company that is trying to win a big account from us took myself, and a coworker down to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the NAPA 500 NASCAR race.

I'm not a NASCAR fan by any means, and this was my first event of this sort.

I'd rather watch paint dry.

Anywhooo, I did get some pics.

Panorama of the Grandstand and stadium

Gallery of some pics

This are MAJORLY reduced pics. I'm stuck on a 44.4k dial up connection. Original image sizes were around 1.3 meg, these are around 90k or so. If there are any that you want full size, let me know and I'll put them up when I get back in town next week. The original of the grandstand is awesome.

Cool pics, vi!

The last race I whent to was in riverside🙁

I really want to try and catch the chicagoland race or perhaps texas next year.

you forgot the beer and smokes

Oy! There was close to a three hour rain delay. The only way some of the people could keep themselves entertained was by pounding the beer down. There were some SERIOUSLY funked up people there. Saw several unruley drunkards getting drug down by the security staff. We were actually rather scared driving out of there because a lot of the people in that stadium had been pounding beer down since 7:00 AM. We left the stadium at 6:00 PM :Q

It way BYOB there. You could bring your own cooler and not have to get bent over a barrel paying $4.50 for a 16oz beer.

When I was home for break last spring, I went to the spring race at Darlington with my uncle. I'm not a big NASCAR fan, either, but I did have a good time.

They were moving around that corner at ~170MPH in most of those pics. They were sometimes doing over 200 at the end of the straight away.

As they passed in front of us, it was nothing than a green/yellow/orange/blue blur. If you looked straight ahead, you couldn't really see them. You had to look up or down the track. You really don't have a grasp of just how fast they are moving until you see it in person.
