I came down to this case

It am giving my old rig to my parents, and I am keeping my old case for my new computer. I have put too much into it to just give it away also.

The parts are:
-msi k8n neo2
-amd 64 3500+
-2 512mb ram sticks
-9800 pro

All I need is the cheapest possible case I can get for these parts that will work. I made a post awhile back about this, but I didn't realize that thew suggested cases were only 300 watts.

The K8N Neo 2 requires a full ATX case, does it not? So the linked case won't do ya.. Why not use the Newegg case configurator to choose a case. You already know what we think are good in general. All the effort we put into your other threads and you go off and select a totally inappropriate case. What are we to think?

I'd recommend this case from the ones available in the 40-50$ range at Newegg - you may be able to get them for less elsewhere (check ewiz.com via Froogle). Make sure you actually are getting the PSU with the black label as shown in the product gallery. It looks to be made by Topower (UL file no. E130843), so it shouldn't be a total dog. There are other Athena cases in that search that are supposed to have the same PSU. Other than that there are a few Coolmax cases with their own brand PSU - those aren't total dogs either.

Besides, using a 350W PSU with a 9800 Pro is pushing it, IMHO. I run a 9800 Pro, and it's a power-hungry pig...

350W should be fine with that card.

True! ATI recommends a 300W PSU or greater...

However, 'that card' doesn't exist in a vacuum, so it depends on the number of other internal devices that are installed. Plus, cheap PSUs tend to play games with the numbers -- when liars figure, figures lie -- and so forth, and so on.

IMHO, I would consider a 400W PSU to be a bare minimum -- either that or use a low-power, fanless, vid card, like a 9200SE, instead of the 9800 Pro... 😉
