Buddy signed up for the eBay affiliate program a long time ago thinking it'd be "real easy" to get people to sign up (even though he didn't even have a popular website or intended to do anything with Google). It was forgotten about for awhile, and then the other day he tells me he got ten people to sign up in an IRC channel. I said "Sure, you wish," and he said "I did, I made $121 in like 30 min." I said bull, but he's persisting.

Please reply with shens and other remarks as well so I can link him to this thread and embarrass him. :D

I just read the last line though. Hi archcommus' friend.
Bah, I wouldn't give my social security number and fax other crucial information about myself to sign up for that. That's what he had to do for CJ.

He is correct about the affiliate payouts, it does and can happen.

I know someone who got his fellow students to place bids, 45 of them, a few days later he received $500+ from CJ.

Now he's convincing people to sign up for FreeMiniMacs.com, bastard!!! (yes I'm jealous)

No registrations, just bids? And $500 from that? They must've been doing a LOT of bidding.

I know it's possible but I don't believe for sh!t he got people to sign up in an IRC channel.

EDIT: That would be 5,000 bids to be exact.

1. sign up for ebay affiliate program
2. get lazy, smoke dope, fall off face of earth.
3. rediscover ebay affiliate program.
4. convince everyone in #geriatrics to bid on hoverchair (tm)
5. . . .
6. profit?

Well he gave me his name and pass to log into CJ and apparently he has the money. But I'm still in disbelief that he got ten people to sign up in an IRC channel. Most channels would kick you for even asking.

So what do you think he did, clicked on his own link and bid over 1200 times? He's not fessing up.

Yes registrations and bids are required but you do not have to be the winning bidder, just 1 bid that's all.

Oh, so his buddies signed up AND bid. That makes more sense. It'd take a lot of bids to get that entire amount without registrations.

I really think he signed up fake people or something.

UPDATE.

He got the check from CJ, but of course he lied - he forged them.

Shame, shame, now I fear for him.
