Giant port ?
You do know what a serial port looks like right ?
Or are you thinking of a parallel port ?
 
PS/2 ports unfortunately should never been completely removed from motherboards. There is a flaw with USB devices in that you need to sometimes install a driver. How do you do that without being able to use your mouse or your keyboard? You get stuck and this is when a PS/2 mouse comes in handy.
